About 2 children a day, aged 0-14, are diagnosed with cancer. Although research over the last 50 years has made huge improvements in survival there is still much to be done. Come and learn about our approach to childhood cancer, difficulties treating in the developing world and the exciting research being done in the field of immunotherapy and paediatric brain tumours.
Our panellists include:

  • Prof Michael Sullivan: Lead Oncologist for the Solid Tumour and Neuro-Oncology Team at RCH. He has been involved in developing a decision aid for fertility preservation in children and adolescents with cancer and is the Continental President of Oceania for the International Society for Paediatric Oncology (SIOP). In this role he was part of the development of guidelines for treating low grade gliomas in low and middle income settings.
  • Dr Jordan Hansford: Consultant Oncologist at RCH. He has been involved in a number of collaborative projects which have included exploring predictors of outcome in paediatric low grade gliomas treated with BRAF inhibitors and exploring characteristics of diffuse intrinsic pontine gliomas in patients with poor survival. He is one of the Vice Chairs of The Access to Innovative Molecular Profiling for Paediatric Brain Cancers (AIM BRAIN Project) which provides molecular tumour profiling for paediatric CNS tumours in Australia and New Zealand.
  • Dr Stacie Wang: Clinical Research Fellow at WEHI. She is the recipient of a research grant from My Room Children’s Cancer Charity. Dr Wang is currently completing her PhD in immunotherapy and CAR-T therapy in brain tumour models with her most recent publication being “Towards Immunotherapy for Pediatric Brain Tumors”. She also has an interest in fungal infection and infectious diseases in oncology.

Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity to learn from experts in the field of paediatric oncology!
